Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Vovapy collects when you use Tee Time Snipe®, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have — including how we handle the golf course credentials that power automated booking.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the Service: your account details, the courses and times you want, and how to reach you.
- If you enable Book It, we store your golf course login encrypted and use it only to place bookings you asked for.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties for their marketing.
- You can delete your stored course credentials, turn off alerts, or delete your whole account at any time.
- We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager on our marketing site. You can opt out.
This summary is for convenience only. The full policy below controls.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Tee Time Snipe® is operated by Vovapy (“Vovapy,” “we,” “us,” “our”), located at 2080 W Empire Avenue #1107, Burbank, CA 91504, United States. Vovapy is the controller of the personal information described here.
This Privacy Policy applies to teetimesnipe.com, app.teetimesnipe.com, our iOS application, and the alert, monitoring, and booking services we provide through them (together, the “Service”). It does not apply to golf courses, booking platforms, or any other third party that has its own privacy policy, even if you reach them through us.
Using the Service is also subject to our Terms and Conditions.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account information — your email address, mobile phone number, and password. We do not ask for your name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and a unique identifier from them, but not your name and not your password for that account. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we receive a relay address instead of your real one.
- Snipe requests — the golf courses you select, the dates and time windows you want, the number of players, and your notification preferences.
- Golf course credentials — only if you enable Book It. See Section 3.
- Booking information — reservations placed for you, including the course, date, time, and party size, and confirmation details returned by the course.
- Support and other communications — the content of messages you send us, including course requests, bug reports, and anything you attach.
- Payment information — your billing details are collected and held by our payment processor, or by Apple for in-app purchases, not by us. Entering a name at checkout is optional and any name you provide stays with the payment processor. We receive confirmation of the transaction, your plan, its status, and limited card details such as the brand and last four digits. We do not store your full card number.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device and technical data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type and identifiers, app version, language, and time zone.
- Usage data — pages and screens viewed, features used, snipe requests created and deleted, alerts sent and opened, referring and exit pages, timestamps, and crash and diagnostic logs.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address. Precise location only with your permission; see Section 6.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 9.
2.3 Information we receive from others
- Sign-in providers — Google and Apple, when you use them to sign in.
- Payment and app store providers — subscription status, renewals, cancellations, and refunds.
- Golf courses and booking platforms — availability data, and confirmations or errors relating to a booking placed for you.
- Analytics and advertising platforms — aggregated measurement about how people find and use our site.
3. Golf course credentials
Book It is an optional feature, offered at supported courses only, that reserves a tee time for you when a matching one opens up. Because golf courses require you to be signed in to reserve, Book It only works if we can sign in as you.
Book It is off unless you turn it on. If you never enable it, we never ask for or store a golf course password. Alerts work without it.
3.1 What we store and why
If you enable Book It, we store the username and password for the golf course or booking platform account you connect. We use them for one purpose: signing in to that account and placing reservations that match the criteria you configured, as your authorized agent under Section 7 of our Terms.
3.2 How we handle them
- Credentials are encrypted at rest and access is restricted to the systems and personnel that need it to operate the booking feature.
- They are never sold, rented, or licensed, and they are never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than placing your bookings.
- They are not disclosed to anyone except the golf course or booking platform they belong to, and the infrastructure providers that host our systems under contract.
- We do not use them to view, change, or delete anything in your course account beyond what is needed to place the reservations you requested.
3.3 Your control
You can remove stored credentials at any time from your account settings. Doing so disables Book It for any request that depends on them, and we delete them. They are also deleted when you delete your Tee Time Snipe account. If you would rather we not hold them at all, use alerts only.
Under California law, account log-in credentials are sensitive personal information. We collect and use them only to perform the service you requested, and only for the purposes listed above — which are among the uses California law permits without a separate right to limit. We do not use or disclose them to infer characteristics about you. See Section 13.
4. How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and administer your account and authenticate you;
- Monitor the golf courses you select and detect availability matching your criteria;
- Send you tee time alerts and booking confirmations by email and SMS;
- Place reservations on your behalf when you have enabled Book It;
- Process subscriptions, trials, renewals, cancellations, and refunds;
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- Maintain, debug, secure, and improve the Service, including analyzing which features are used and where they fail;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms — for example, duplicate accounts created to repeat a free trial;
- Send you marketing about our features and offers, where you have not opted out;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
We do not use your information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without human involvement.
5. Email and SMS notifications
Service messages. We use your email address and, if you provide it, your mobile number to deliver the alerts and confirmations that are the point of the Service, along with account, security, and billing notices. These continue while your account is open.
SMS. Text alerts are optional and require your opt-in. Message frequency varies with how many snipe requests you have running, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. To deliver these messages we share your mobile number with the messaging provider and carriers that transmit them, acting on our instructions.
We do not sell or share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing purposes, and consent to receive text messages is not shared with anyone for that purpose under any circumstances.
Marketing email. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing message or in your account settings. That does not stop service messages, which you need in order to use the Service.
6. Location information
We infer your approximate location — typically city or region — from your IP address, to show relevant courses and for analytics and fraud prevention.
Our “Near Me” feature can use your device's precise location to find courses close to you. That happens only if you grant location permission, and you can withdraw it at any time in your browser or device settings. When you do, we use precise location to return nearby courses and do not use it to build an ongoing profile of your movements or to track you across other apps or websites.
8. We do not sell your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months, including with respect to the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.
We do not sell, rent, or disclose your golf course credentials or your mobile phone number to any third party for that party's own purposes.
10. How long we keep information
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account information | While your account is open, then deleted or de-identified within 90 days of deletion, subject to the exceptions below |
| Snipe requests | Removed automatically when you delete them or when the request's time window passes |
| Golf course credentials | Until you remove them or delete your account, then deleted |
| Booking history | While your account is open, and afterward where needed to resolve disputes |
| Payment and transaction records | As long as required by tax, accounting, and anti-fraud obligations, typically seven years |
| Support messages | Up to three years after the matter is resolved |
| Server and diagnostic logs | Typically up to 12 months |
| Analytics data | Per the retention settings of the analytics provider, typically up to 14 months |
We may keep information longer where we need it to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, enforce our agreements, or prevent fraud — for example, retaining a minimal record of a terminated account to stop repeat free-trial abuse.
11. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, encryption at rest for golf course credentials, hashed passwords, access controls that limit who can reach sensitive data, and monitoring of our systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password for your account, do not reuse it elsewhere, and tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think your account has been compromised. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator as required by law.
12. Your choices and account deletion
Whoever you are and wherever you live, you can:
- Review and update your account information in your account settings;
- Remove your golf course credentials and disable Book It at any time;
- Change notification preferences, unsubscribe from marketing email, or reply STOP to text messages;
- Turn off location permission in your browser or device settings;
- Delete your account, which deletes your snipe requests and stored credentials.
To delete your account: open your account settings at app.teetimesnipe.com and choose to delete your account, or email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple — cancel that in the App Store as well. Some records are retained as described in Section 10.
To make a request, email [email protected] or use our contact form. We will verify your identity, usually by confirming control of the email address on your account, before acting on a request about personal information. We do not charge for these requests, and we will not discriminate against you for making one.
13. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the rights described here.
13.1 What we collect, and why
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email, phone, IP address, account ID | Account, alerts, support, security |
| Customer records | Billing details, payment status | Subscriptions and billing |
| Commercial information | Plan purchased, bookings placed | Providing and improving the Service |
| Internet activity | Pages viewed, features used, device data | Analytics, debugging, security |
| Geolocation | Approximate location; precise only with permission | Finding nearby courses |
| Sensitive personal information | Golf course account log-in credentials | Placing the bookings you authorized |
| Inferences | Preferred courses and play times | Personalizing alerts and recommendations |
Sources and disclosures for each category are described in Section 2 and Section 7. Retention is described in Section 10.
13.2 Your rights
- Know and access — the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of recipients.
- Delete — request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Portability — receive a copy in a portable, readily usable format.
- Opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. See Section 8.
- Limit use of sensitive personal information — we use sensitive personal information only to perform the service you requested and for the other purposes California law permits without a right to limit, so this right does not apply. You can nonetheless delete your stored credentials at any time.
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge a different price, or provide a lesser quality of service because you exercised a right.
Submit a request by emailing [email protected] with the subject line “California Privacy Request.” You may use an authorized agent, in which case we will require proof of their authority and may ask you to confirm it directly. We respond within 45 days and may extend by another 45 days with notice. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
14. Canadian privacy rights
We serve golfers in Canada, and for Canadian users we handle personal information in accordance with PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy laws. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccuracies, and to withdraw your consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of it, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent for information necessary to run the Service means we may no longer be able to provide it to you.
Personal information about Canadian users is stored and processed in the United States and may be accessible to U.S. authorities under U.S. law. Contact [email protected] to exercise a right or to raise a concern with our privacy practices. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
15. European and UK privacy rights
The Service is directed to users in the United States and Canada. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following applies to the extent the GDPR or UK GDPR covers our processing.
Legal bases. We process personal information to perform our contract with you (running your account, monitoring courses, sending alerts, placing bookings, billing); on the basis of your consent (text message alerts, precise location, non-essential cookies, marketing where required) which you may withdraw at any time; for our legitimate interests in securing, debugging, and improving the Service and preventing fraud, where those are not overridden by your rights; and to comply with legal obligations. Golf course credentials are processed on the basis of your explicit instruction and consent when you enable Book It.
Your rights. Subject to conditions in the law, you may request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and portability; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent without affecting processing already carried out. Email [email protected]. We respond within one month and may extend by two further months for complex requests. You also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
16. International data transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers process information in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where a transfer from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland requires a safeguard, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
17. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 to hold an account under our Terms.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16 — we do not sell or share personal information at all. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
18. Third-party sites
The Service links to golf course websites, booking platforms, app stores, review sites, and social media. We do not control them, and this policy does not apply to them. Review the privacy policy of any site you visit through us.
19. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material — for example, a new purpose for using your information — we will give you reasonable notice by email or in the Service before it takes effect, and where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
